« In the digital age, it has become completely natural for every company to evolve its strategy. It adapts to its environment, finds its place, and above all mobilizes all its resources to preserve it. To do this, creating a website is the very first step. »

There is nothing genius about creating a website, but that alone is not enough. Beyond the code, a well-planned website built on solid foundations has a much higher chance of success and reaching the targeted audience.

Without further ado, here are the 6 steps to follow to have a successful website in 2020:

  1. Determining needs

The first thing to do is define the communication needs, client objectives, target audience, functionalities, site structure — that is, an architecture that organizes data logically and hierarchically — and the choice of a domain name, e.g., www.domainname.com.

Next, the client provides the web agency with a specifications document to validate. If they don’t have one, the agency sends a blank template outlining different website characteristics, and the client selects what suits them. After validating the specifications comes the design stage.

  1. Design

The design stage involves conducting a benchmark study to determine what will distinguish the client from competitors and define their positioning. Then, create a moodboard to show the work universe (color palette, patterns, typography…).

After that, mockups are created using design software and sent to the client for approval.

  1. Development

Website development consists of building a database of all elements that make up the site using a CMS chosen by the client or suggested by the web agency, such as WordPress, or a native CMS using a framework.

  1. Testing

In this stage, the project manager performs internal testing to ensure everything is compliant. Then the client conducts external testing and requests any necessary modifications.

  1. Hosting

The website becomes accessible to users on the Internet. It can be found in search engines using its domain name.

  1. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO consists of improving and consolidating your website’s ranking in search engine results for relevant queries.

Executing some of these phases requires specialized skills and sometimes experience. If you lack either, don’t worry! There are specialized agencies focused solely on website design, staffed with experts to help deliver highly competitive websites. Our agency, MOJJOO, is one of them.
